Niya is a Biology student at Western University with a strong interest in preventive care, health education, and community outreach. As a Dental Assistant Intern and Community Health Volunteer in rural India, she supported oral hygiene education and gained firsthand insight into global health equity and healthcare accessibility in rural areas. Actively involved in student clubs, Niya has developed strong collaboration and public engagement skills and is committed to advancing sustainable, community-based care.

Luciana is a Health Sciences student at Western University specializing in Rehabilitation Science, with experience in health education, community support, and research. She has supported children living with Type 1 diabetes in camp settings and is interested in occupational therapy and community wellbeing, with a focus on practical, strengths-based approaches to everyday health challenges. Luciana has contributed to international research at OsloMet on AV1 telepresence robots that help children and youth with long-term illness or mental health challenges stay connected to school, and has supported the integration of these findings into the occupational therapy curriculum. She is also involved in a photovoice project exploring how racialized older adults navigate self-care amid racism and ageism. As a CPIP intern, Luciana brings a community-first, equity-focused lens and is motivated by prevention, access, and patient-informed care.

David Hart is a PhD Candidate in Global Health at McMaster University and a Public Health professional with training in health policy, evidence synthesis, and population health analysis. He holds a Master of Science in Public Health and has supported policy-relevant research across health systems, health equity, and chronic disease prevention.

David has conducted scoping, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and cross-sectional analysis of national survey data in pediatric populations, including survivors of childhood brain tumours and children under five years in LMICs. His public health experience includes coordinating community-based programs and supporting health education initiatives to improve service uptake.

Through his academic and professional work, David is particularly interested in how rigorous research and data can be translated into effective, equitable public policy that improves health outcomes for underrepresented populations and communities.

My academic background began in Life Sciences, and I’ve found myself shifting into this business-healthcare intersectionality to find business-driven and strategic ways to deliver innovative and effective health outcomes. I have always been deeply drawn to the fast-paced nature of emergency medicine and the challenge of quick problem-solving. Beyond the classroom, I am passionate about supporting charitable causes and underserved communities, which I have pursued through volunteering in mental health roles, working with rescue animals, and leading various fundraising initiatives. CPIP is incredibly exciting to me because it aligns perfectly with my future aspirations to provide medical aid abroad.  Karina is a second-year Health Sciences student at the University of Ottawa, with a strong interest in public health and policy. Through her academic studies she has gained knowledge in health systems, ethics and research.  Nadia is a Biomedical Science student at the University of Ottawa with a background rooted in clinical research and community-driven health initiatives. As a research advisor across various institutions, she has supported a diverse array of projects ranging from specific improvements in clinical practice to large-scale, system-level policy changes. Her work with the Canadian Council of the Blind further established her conviction that community is vital to maintaining personal health and increasing healthcare accessibility.  Feegalo is a public health professional with a Master of Public Health from Walden University and a background in Environmental Science and International Development Studies from Dalhousie University. Her work focuses on population health, health equity, and strengthening community health systems through evidence-based approaches. She is particularly interested in preventive health strategies and improving access to care for underserved and rural communities. Feegalo is passionate about collaborative, community-centered healthcare models and is excited to support the Community Paramedic Integration Project’s mission of expanding access to care through innovative community paramedicine initiatives.

Foram is a Health Sciences student at the University of Ottawa with a strong academic interest in community health, mental health, and health equity. She has been actively involved in community-based initiatives supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, contributing to outreach efforts and service-driven projects focused on dignity, accessibility, and meaningful impact. In addition, her hospital volunteering experience has strengthened her understanding of patient-centred care and interdisciplinary collaboration within clinical settings.
